Not...that different, really? I mean, we're from the same time from what I recall, and from what Vegeta tells me there's nothing crazy going on for a long time now.

[Seven whole years.]

But I mean, I've always liked you? I don't really think anything has to change about us or between us. I don't want it to push us apart, for sure.

[It's simple logic, but Krillin can be remarkably simple at that.]

[She ought to have known that would be the response but oh was she stupidly afraid.]

... Good.

[It was the closest she could come to a "I'm glad" to be perfectly honest. She was more than glad and it was humbling to realize just how much it went beyond that.]

I just... didn't want to lose you again.

[Her voice was a little soft but it was the truth. He had disappeared once along with her brother, only to return as she was healing from that disappearance. And now that thought of going home...]

[Krillin understands that. He nods and moves over to her, reaching for her hand if she doesn't pull away.]

I...I know, I don't want to lose you either.

[He smiles gently, nodding a second time and closing his eyes. his voice goes up a level, and he just spits out what he's thinking.]

You're the best thing that's ever happened to me, you know.

[tsundroid]

[She doesn't thankfully, instead letting her hand be caught. The flush in her cheeks darkens.]

I'm glad.

[No, she seriously is. It's awkward to say so out loud but she is.]

[He knows she means it, and he dips his head and leans against her, holding her hand tight. There's really only one thing left he can say, in truth, and Krillin doesn't ever really hold back his thoughts. It's not his way.]

I love you, Eighteen.

[tsundroid]

[Oh good grief. The blonde huffs out a breath at his words as he leans into her. There's the strong desire to flee even now and she makes a sound like an annoyed cat even as she brushes one hand through his hair.]

I love you too.

[It comes out mumbled but at this point she can't just let him say it and not say it back. She's not that awkward, right? Right.]

[Well, if asked he'd just say that he loves annoyed cats a lot. But nobody asked for his opinion, so he'll just stand there a moment and enjoy her hands in his hair. It's gotten fluffier, and he's pretty sure he's gonna keep it.]

I guess we're lucky, huh? No worrying about life back home, or one of us being dead.

I guess. There's still some to worry about here, of course. That message wasn't all sunshine after all.

Y'mean that whole...test your weaknesses thing?

[He...isn't worried about that really.]

It doesn't seem odd to you that we would get that sort of warning? That they can't just manage to send us back without some kind of 'test'?

Well, yeah. There is that. It's kinda weird...but I'd rather hope it does work. And the new guys in charge seem less keen in making weird stuff happen. I dunno, 18. I guess in the end we'll see, right?

[In response the blond breathes out a sigh.]

You really are too accepting, you know.

I mean...maybe? But I've seen some pretty weird stuff, this isn't even that crazy.

[tsundroid]

Not when you compare it do home, no.

[Perhaps Eighteen is simply not that trusting. Wouldn't be a surprise really.]

Exactly. I mean, except the barrier.

[He hates that stupid thing.]

But really? I think the weirdest thing about this place is the fact that nobody bats an eyelash at people like us, when we fight and stuff.

Can you blame them? Considering how badly everyone seems to talk about this place before the time skip and all that. They had more to worry about that a few overpowered idiots.

I guess. And we were on their side and all...

[Shrug.]

I'm just glad it's done, y'know?

[tsundroid]

That's true, I suppose.

[A beat, then:]

I just wanted to be sure if we did go back that we were on the same page. Whatever the trials are doesn't really matter in the end.

Right. It isn't exactly like we've never been tested before. And we always come out on top.

[Confident! That's Krillin. Most of the time.]

[tsundroid]

[He did have a point. Always on top. She pats his head like one pats a very good dog.]

Leave it to you to put things in perspective.

[He grins.]

That's my job, isn't it? Someone has to.

[And then he hops up and then surprises her with a quick kiss on the cheek.]

[tsundroid]

[The blonde makes an amused sound.]

I suppose it is better that it's you and not one of those overpowered morons.

Well...yeah. Not sure anyone else is qualified.

[He nods his head, giving the blonde one of those little smiles. Basically she's just told him what he wants to hear.]
