1st Chestnut: Arrival [Action/Voice]

Action/Voice

[People who happen to be making use of the Hot Springs might take note that there's a stranger in their midst. A short, bald man with six little dots on his forehead is laying down and sleeping on one of the deck-chairs near the edge of the tub. He's dressed, at least, but that doesn't change the fact that he's just there, dozing away with a journal for a pillow. Occasionally he lets out a little sigh of contentment, mumbling to himself in his sleep and seemingly oblivious to the world around him.

After a while, he does wake up though, and looks around, completely lost. In his flailing he notices the journal he's been laying on and grabs it up.]

Huh? What...? Well how the heck did I end up in a hot spring? And...what's with this thing? Oh man I hope that blinking light doesn't mean it's gonna explode or something. That'd be just my luck...

[There's the sound of random buttons being pressed and the picture flickers a few times before Krillin realizes that the blinking light means that it is, in fact, recording. He sounds immediately apologetic, and just starts speaking normally, if somewhat formally.]

Uh...sorry about that. My name's Krillin and ah-hehehe I don't know who's Capsulepad this is, but I found it and I wanna return it. The book model is really cool, I didn't even know they made them, but I'm not a thief. If you can hear this, then let me know where you are and I'll return it right away. Only, I guess it'd be great if you could give me some directions too.

[Later, after he's finally departed and begun to poke around his new surroundings, Krillin makes a beeline for town, whizzing along through the chilly air and cursing his luck. It's cold, and his clothes are freaking gone, and he of course missed the teleporter. Once he finds and swipes some clothes, he'll start poking his head around trying to find out where he can get some food and more information. So, expect him to turn up in the Item Shop, Bakery, and Welcome Center.]

[Whoa, Bulla, you really do look a lot like Bulma. Only...younger.]

Bulma? Or...man, Bulma's sister?

Daughter, actually. Time works weird here.

[She pauses for a moment. Timelines are tricky to address, so she'll start with something that's not as likely to be a terrible shock.]

...has Trunks been born yet in your time?

[There's a moment's pause while he gets the general rundown of Luceti from Adela before he turns back to the journal. He tries to make that work with what he's hearing from Bulla, and arrives at the conclusion that time travel makes his head hurt.]

Right...yeah, he has.

[It's okay, Krillin. Time travel issues make everyone's head hurt.]

Trunks and I are thirteen years apart in age, and I'm sixteen years old. He's here from about the same point in time as me, and so is Dad.

[She'll give Krillin a moment to do the mental math on that to determine just how many years ahead that is in the future for him.]

Okay. So. What you're saying is that you're from the future. And. That's maybe twenty...nine years ahead of me? Or 28, because I'm not sure exactly when Trunks was born.

Okay. I can understand that. You're Vegeta and Bulma's daughter. And you probably only know me as an old man, right?

Basically, yeah. And you've got hair and a mustache in my timeline. Goku and Goten are here...but if Trunks was just a baby, Chichi might still be pregnant in your time. You'll know Goten the moment you see him. He looks so much like Goku.

Wait, Goten? Goku had another baby?!

Yeah. I guess you either haven't seen Chichi lately or she's not showing yet? Goten and Trunks are about a year apart in age.

Guess not. I was pretty occupied with the whole Cell thing, y'know?

That makes sense. Well, surprise! It's a boy. And here, he's seven years old and looks a lot like Goku did as a kid.

Oh boy. Does he have less energy? Or...is that too much to hope for? Goku was a really wild kid.

Goten's not too wild. Pretty energetic, but he's a sweet kid and he does listen when adults tell him things.

[Admittedly, he does forget, but. That's true for many seven year olds, not just half-saiyan ones.]

He stayed with us while Goku was on a mission and the only problem we had was him bringing in frogs and bugs from outside and bringing them into his room.

Well that's not too bad I guess. That's pretty normal, all things considered. But does he take after his dad? Like, is he a fighter too?

He is, and he can already turn into a super saiyan. Pretty impressive, huh?

Yeah, it sure is. Man...that's fast, considering his age. How about you? Are you a Super Saiyan yet?

No, not yet. ...admittedly, I only really started training a lot after arriving here. My childhood was totally peaceful. There weren't any creeps trying to take over the world or destroy it for over fifteen years.

[Then along came Bebi...]

I did learn the basics, like how to use my ki to fly, but I'm way more interested in fashion and socializing...and Dad didn't force me to learn more than what I needed to defend myself.

[With a little grin, she adds,]

I totally surprised him for Father's Day, though.

Oh? How'd you do that?

[Because talking about her is way more interesting than talking about the future. That's...kinda brainbreaking, but Bulla is right here and seems like a nice kid.]

I trained with a bunch of friends from different worlds who are here for a month and a half before Father's Day and then promised Dad that I'd train for a full day with him for Father's Day itself. I managed to keep it secret the whole time, too.

[Which wasn't too hard when it came to training in places other than the Battle Dome, but she had to pay more attention to her father's schedule when it came to time spent there.]

I was so sore for a few days after that, but it made him really happy.

I bet he really did appreciate that. Especially if you don't train much at home then. I mean, I bet that may have even made him smile.

He smiled and gave me a hug.

[And considering that it's usually just him tolerating hugs that have come from her, that spoke volumes for how happy he was.]

I did a lot better than I expected, too. I promised eight hours of training or until I collapsed, whichever came first. And I made it the full eight hours. Of course, then my legs felt like jelly and I didn't have enough ki left to fly, but still.

Man, seriously? I wish I could've seen that. I hardly believe it!

He probably wouldn't have if he had an audience, but it was just us there.

Probably not, but good, it's good that he's loosening up some.

Oh, he's definitely loosening up. He even agreed to help me with my fashion designing and modeled for me. He wasn't happy about it, but he still did it to help me.

You're into fashion? And you got him to model? Wow...

[So domestic.]
